Further things to consider before committing to be part of the mission journey to Norristown:

  • You must be in good physical condition to participate. You don't need a beach body, but you will need the stamina to walk and stand for extended periods of time. In the past, participants have walked from 15,000 to 20,000 steps in a day, which is 6.5-8.5 miles.
  • You will need to attend training and information meetings to prepare for the trip. If you cannot attend, you will have to complete the work on your own.
  • You must be a person who can respect and not intentionally offend others.
  • Related to the above, you must be teachable, humble, and willing to follow the instructions of the church planters, group leaders, and those they designate.
  • Remember at all times that as part of a mission team, you represent Christ, the church, and the gospel.
  • You will need to keep your political opinions and critiques of the local community to yourself.
  • If you can't do the above, this trip is probably not for you.

What we will do:

  • Assist church planter, Michael Board, in whatever way he needs.
  • Help spread the word about the existence of Christ Supreme Church and invite people to church.
  • Seek to share the gospel with those we contact.

The benefits to you and to our church:

  • Learn to depend on God in situations where we have little understanding or knowledge within ourselves.
  • Learn what it means to be the one who is out of place, and thus, be able to love and reach the one’s who feel out of place in our church and culture.
  • Learn to reach and engage people very different from us in a multicultural environment, a skill needed more and more in our community.
  • Mostly, learn to love and share Christ with the “other”—the secular, post-modern person, the immigrant, the ethically different, the rich, the poor, etc.
